Frederick Turner (1846-?) was born in England, and emigrated to the U.S. at age 10. He learned the trade of goldbeating, and in 1873, he organized the goldbeaters of Philadelphia into a local assembly of the Knights of Labor. Throughout the 1880s, Turner served as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Knights of Labor, as well as a member of the General Executive Board throughout the 1880s.
